Marysville is a beautiful place near the Yarra Valley, Victoria's wine growing district and stunning in its own right. Marysville was devastated by bushfires but has been lovingly rebuilt. The bush is recovering. While bushwalking there you might come across a babbling stream, seemingly coming from nowhere because of all the bracken and ferns.
I used a round canvas to create extra softness to the scene and to mirror the mossy rocks there in shape.

Torquay beach is a beautiful place along the Great Ocean Road ,Victoria's coastal region and is stunning in its own right. Out of the main town that is Torquay you may find beach entrances such as this, an invitation of relation, of warmth, of salt and sea.
I used a round canvas to create a porthole into another place, a place to meditate and relax.

If you have lucky to visit Giverny , France and see Monet's garden you will know that the driveway there is literally awash with nasturtiums. Its huge and very dramatic. This canvas is a small snippet. It is mounted into a sealed pine box frame which can be removed easily if you prefer.

I love Impressionist Art and the exploration of light. I also adore colour and just couldn't go past this giant tree. I stood under its canopy and sighed. Ballarat has beautiful gardens and many huge trees. The tree was big so the painting had to be too. It's fresh colourful and would make a beautiful statement on a wall, a bit like jewellery against a plain dress.

When I was a kid, my father would take us on very long walks in the Australian Summer heat, in far east Victoria- a place called Swifts creek. He had gold mining claims there that needed to be staked and maintained. We would walk all day, carrying posts, digging holes, slipping and sliding up and down deep embankments. Sunset was a welcome sight. The light in the bush would change and we would stumble down back into the valley to camp the night, bony tired, thirsty and hot. The colour of the sky would wash out and the bush would start to glow in the dipping sun.

Essentially this painting is all about light and dark. I adore impressionism and so this was very much about creating changing light in a moment in time in the Australian bush. I also like bendy trees and bushes so they hand to feature there.
It's an absolute jewel of a painting - would be stunning as a feature piece on a large wall.

Inspiration- I have a white gumtree in my backyard up against a fence, that deserves to be in a landscape , it is so beautiful. When I stood underneath it, it towered over me so much it seemed bent.
It all went from there to a huge canvas that is almost as tall as me!!
I adore landscapes but like to "bend" the truth a bit and make them slightly quirky.

I never realised how different clouds look when you are under them arther than looking over an horizon. A cumulus nimbus formation would be hard to spot when we are right under it!

Gardens sometimes glow in the dark of night, specially certain types of flowers. My garden- Buninyong Victoria. All those dots you can see look like light reflections but are actually paint.

Inverloch in Victoria is a very special place in my heart. Its the place of dinosaur bones, wild ocean and many, many rocks. I built this small pile when I was last there, learning to snorkel.
